WONDERFUL WEDNESDAY!

Wednesday is here and we are almost at the end of our week!  Wednesday is usally called hump day with the ideal that we are going over the hump of the loooong week.  What a bad rap!  So, today I want to celebrate Wednesday by counting my blessing!

Lord, thank you for the beauty we see all around us in our yards, neighborhoods, through fellow bloggers.

Thank you Lord for your countless blessing that flow free to all of us:

Your tender grace and mercy

Your forgivenss

Your Love

I will praise you , Lord, with all my heart;
I will tell of all the marvelous things you have done.
I will be filled with joy because of you.
I will sing praises to your name, O most high God.
Psalm 9: 1-2 NLT

Enjoy your wonderful Wednesday and remember to count your blessings!

Here today........Gone tomorrow......

Again wandering through my yard today I noticed how the rhododendron bushes have already lost their beautiful blooms..........Only a few days ago they were vibrant and full of color.

But today:

The blooms were gone

And laying on the ground to soon disappear.......what was once so beautiful will soon be only a memory..

I was quickly reminded by the wonderful Holy Spirit of the Word of God:

All Men are like grass,
and all their glory is like the
flowers of the field.
The grass withers and the flowers fall,
Because of the breath of the Lord blows on them,
surely the people are grass,
The grass withers and the flowers fall,
BUT the WORD of our God stands forever....Isaiah 40:6-8

God is faithful and His Word is True!  When all else fails......The Word remains forever!

WE ALL MUST LEARN TO BLOOM WHERE WE ARE PLANTED......

I
AS I WAS WALKING THROUGH MY BACK YARD OVER THE PAST FEW DAYS I REALIZED JUST HOW THE FLOWERS, ROSES AND SHRUBS ARE BEGINNING TO BLOOM.

THEY STAND PROUD AS THEY SHOW OFF IN A BEAUTIFUL ARRAY OF COLORS.  IT AMAZES ME HOW THEY CAN SURVIVE THE COLD SNOWY WINTER AND COME OUT SHOUTING.

EVEN NOW THEY ARE TAKING A  BEATING FROM THE HEAVY RAINFALL, BUT STILL PROUDLY SHOW OFF IN FULL BLOOM.

A GENTLE REMINDER TO US ALL THAT "WE MUST LEARN TO BLOOM WHERE WE ARE PLANTED"........

On the road again......

My husband and I decided on Friday we would get away and ride the bike.  We planned a trip back home but at the last minute decided to do some sight-seeing in our new home area...........So we filled up the tank and started on our way......

Can you believe this filled up the tank?

And away we rode...........How beautiful!
we passed by this beautiful little church....I made Scott turn around so I could snap a pic.
So we got off and looked around.  That's our bike sitting under the tree.....

We hit the road again......riding up mountain roads....

and down Mountain roads
along rivers.......

And by a lake (this is Dewey Lake)
through several counties..........Pike, Floyd, Johnson, Martin

We had a great lunch at Jenny Wiley State Park

Yummy....fresh catfish.........

We missed our cut-off and saw this sign....Sometimes it is a good thing to go the wrong way.
So we followed the sign..........
around this little curvy road, we were chased by dogs and thought we were lost, so we turned around and stopped at this little post office.  The lady was so nice.  She gave us a hand drawn map that she had copied with the correct directions and here is what they said:
Follow the curvy road past the old caboose until you see the Church of Christ on the left.....keep going until you pass by Lorettas' Brother's Store...Webb grocery.
and keep going until you reach the rock with Butcher Holler wrote on it:

go toward the left and the drive way is just ahead:

up the driveway to the house:

and here it is.

Loretta's brother toured us through the house at a price of $5.00 each.  It was a wonderful tour with some really great personal stories......

Me and Loretta's brother.  He was a great tour guide.  Me in all my biker gear...Too funny! We left when a couple from Iowa and Ohio showed up to tour the home. Imagine that!

The outhouse and coal shed.......

It was a great trip...I was advise all to take the tour and meet Loretta's family.

We started on our way after fueling up again.....

We finally made it home to Pike County......
Enjoy and have blessed and Joyful day!

A makeover worth sharing................................

As my husband and I were looking through all the things we still have in storage (Boooooo). I eyed this old bench of which my husband made for me about 15 years ago. I thought it needed rescuing, so I brought it home!  It has been sitting in my kitchen waiting for a little TLC.   I decided it was time to give it a makeover................

So I got out the black paint and started to work........

And here it is.......I thought it turned out rather nice...........

it looks really good sitting against the colonial red wall in my kitchen/dinning area.
I believe I will still do some sanding to make it look a little older and more primitive
....
Everything looks better with a little paint........

Have a blessed and joyous day!

THIS WHITE BIRD HAS BEEN SHOWING UP AT MY FEEDERS FOR THE PAST FEW WEEKS.  I FINALLY SNAPPED A PICTURE.  I AM SURE IT IS AN ALBINO OF SOME SORT OF SPECIES.  WHAT DO YOU THINK?

Going to Jail...........

Yes, I am going to jail today, but not to stay.........

The first Monday of each month I go to the Pike County Jail and teach the Bible Study part of a Biblical 12 step program.

For the past 10 or so years I have either been running a rescue mission for Women or actually housing women in our home.  We would teach them how to overcome addictions, hurts and rejection through the power of the Word and by allowing Jesus Christ to become the center of their hearts and lives.  It was not always easy.  We tried to live each day as an example of what the power of Christ can do in ones life.  When the Lord called us away from the Rescue Mission back into the pastorate, I felt as if he was changing things up and ending the ministry I had labored in for the past 10 years.  Can I say, "GOD IS GOOD!"  He knows our heart. He created us and gave us the desires we have. After only a few short months the Lord made way for me to begin to visit the jail again and teach the Word.

I have always had a heart to help women understand their postion in Christ and the power of the Word (Bible).  I now have the opportunity to share that in the church and also in the jail.. How good is that? That is GOD good!!!!!!

As many times as I have gone into the jail I still cannot get over the looks of despair and hopelessness you see.  There are so many small acts that we can do without major wealth, ability or itelligence.  Jesus demands our personal involvement in caring

Feed the hungry, and help those in trouble.  Then your light will shine out from darkness, and the darkness around you will be as bright as noon.  Isaiah 58: 10

These are simple acts of kindness.  We have no excuse to neglect those who have deep needs.  Just as we have received, so are we to give!  So today as you go about your way; remember where you are.  If you are not in jail and free to go about your day....count your blessing..........and pray for those less forunate.............and take advantage of every opportunity to share your faith...........and if you get the opportunity......go to jail..........
