It's a Sweet Sunny Sunday!

Look at that sunshine coming over the Mountains!!!!!!

And look at that blue sky!!!!!
It is a sweet sunny Sunday
but it is about more than the blue, sunny sky!
It is about Jesus!

There is sunshine in my soul today,
More glorious and bright
than glows in any earthly sky
for Jesus is my Light!
Oh there's sunshine; blessed sunshine
when the peaceful happy moments roll
When Jesus show his smiling face,
there is sunshine in my soul!!!!
(There is sunshine in my soul-Baptist Hymnal)

Be Blessed today wherever you may be!  If you do not have sunshine....
Remember Jesus is still the Light that always shines.
Let his light shine in your heart today!

Blessings!

Look what I am doing.....

Yes, it is still gloomy and cold here in good ole Kentucky.  The snow is melting so everything is just plain muddy.  Yuck!!!!

Today, I was feeling a little blue and blahzey (is that even a word?).  So, my sweet husband and I decided to make a few visits to some ladies in our church who have been recovering from surgery.  I got all cleaned up and ready, but, no one was home.  After a few calls, we found out they both had follow-up appointments today.  We ended up a WalMart.  I talked my husband into buying two of my favorite magazines. I also talked him into coming home to make some of his world famous white chocolate fudge............YAY!  I cannot think of any better way to beat the Winter blues.

What two magazines, you may ask?

The "Taste of Home" and "The Country Sampler" Magazine, of course.

The Taste of Home magazine is all about recipes made with ground beef.

They all look so yummy and simple.  I like simple!

The Country Sampler will be full of Spring ideas.  I don't know about you, but I could use a touch of Spring in my life right now.

Look at those yellow cabinets!  I am so exited to see what else lies inside the pages of this little ray of sunshine.
What am I doing today?......................

I will cuddle up in front of the fireplace, wrapped all up in one of my quilts and look at the pages of the magazines and  dream, dream, dream!!!

Oh by the way.........................................
here is a look at the white chocolate fudge...................

Until next time......enjoy your day and remember to count your blessings.  There is always a little sunshine somewhere if we just look for it.

Blessings!!

A Tisket, A Tasket, My collection of Baskets....

As many of you know, during my last post I proclaimed to the world my obsession with collecting things.  As long as I am coming clean I thought I may as well share with you yet another one of my collections.........
My love for baskets.......

One of my favorites is the handmade egg or garden basket.
I have a grouping of these hanging over each of the windows in the kitchen.

I also have some hanging on an old coat rack.  I thought this was a creative way to display them.

I also have several longaberger baskets hanging on an old rack from the ceiling.

Did I mention how much I love baskets?   Well, this is a grouping of old picnic baskets that I stacked upon top of each other. They are also useful for storing things in.

This is an old basket that I bought at an auction several years ago.  It is very old.  I stuffed it with several handmade ornaments during Christmas.

I love this handmade rag basket.  I have it sitting in my living room with little red apples.

Baskets are such useful items to have around the house.  This one sits on top of my fridge.  I use it to store my plate racks in until I need them for larger dinners.

Yes, I do love baskets!  How about you?

Blessings to you and enjoy your Day!

My name is Patty and I am a collector!!!!!

Yes, I have been forced to take a bold look at all the "things" I have accumulated  or collected over the past several years. In doing so, I have come to the realization that I have a broad range of collections.  The good ole Websters defines a collector as follows, "One who collects"..(ha!) So, I researched a little deeper to find the word "collect" to be defined as, "to bring together a group (assemble) or to accumulate for a hobby or study".  I must admit openly to all............"My name is Patty and yes, I am a collector".

I shared with you in the last post my collection of quilts. I thought this week I would share my love for and collection of framed stitchery.  I am always on the look for anything that someone has spent time, effort and a touch of love making. My newest is below. I found this one at a local Vendors Mall.

It is a beauty and look at the price it is even sweeter!
Can you believe this?  I love it! Take a closer look at this handiwork.

Here is a grouping of old sampler's I found "around and about" at such wonderful prices.  All of them were under $10.00 with the exception of one.  I will explain below.

The large one on the right is the exception.  My husband bought this one as a gift for me on our 29th wedding anniversary.  I am sure he paid a little more for this one.  He wrote the sweetest note on the back and signed it. He is a sweetie.   Here is a closer look....

This is another one in the grouping.  They are all beautiful!

And another one........

And another............

This is another grouping.  All of these were gifts handmade by friends or a family member.  They are very special to me.

Here is a closer look ...

The one above was made for me by my sweet Mother-in-law many years ago.
This one was made for me by a friend and given to me when my husband graduated from seminary in Ft Worth Texas..such sweet memories.

This one was made by two dear friends when we graduated from Bible College...

Here are a few more....I know...I know.....I told you I was a "Collector"

I found the two above on the 127 yard sale for $10.00 each.  By the way, if you have not experienced the 127 yard sale also known as the "World's longest yard sale". Look it up: http://www.127yardsale.com/.  It is absolutely the best!  Here is a closer look at these two beauties.

The one on the right has a scene of each of the four seasons.  Each scene includes a quilt and you know how I love quilts.

The one on the left has different country-Amish farm scenes...

I like the statement the last one begins with.........
"Where there's room in the heart there's always room in the house".  I pray my heart will always be open to share our Lord's love and the door to my home always open to welcome a visitor inside.

Blessings and to all my collector friends...........

ENJOY!

I Love Quilts.........

I love quilts.....even though, I am not a quilter.  I am a quilt collector.  There is nothing more comforting than a big cozy quilt.  I have them everywhere.......

I have them hanging on both my recliners.  Ready to snuggle up and watch TV.

On my bed for a warm cozy night of sleep....

Folded ...all colorful on a quilt ladder in my bedroom.........

More color and patterns on a quilt ladder in my living room.....

Folded and put on display in an antique china Cabinet.......

I find that if I am feeling lonely and sad...
I just wrap up in a quilt and things are not so bad............
All the colors and patterns bring me good cheer.....
A work of art to decorate with all year.....
Any season, any time...
a quilt around me or beside me....is just fine!
On the wall or on the bed
or as a piece of art...
A quilt is truly a masterpiece from the heart!

take time to enjoy a quilt and to all the quilters out there...Thank you!

Blessing and have a joyous day!
