SWEET SCRIPTURE SUNDAY!

ISAIAH 6:9-13

He said, "Go and tell this people:
"Be ever hearing, but never understanding;
Be ever seeing, but never perceiving."

Make the heart of this people calloused;
make their ears dull
and close their eyes.
Otherwise they might see with their ears,
hear with their ears,
understand with their hearts,
and turn and be healed."

"Then I said, "For how long, O Lord?"
And he answered:
Until the cities lie ruined
and without inhabitant,
until the houses are left deserted,
and the fields ruined and ravaged.
Until the Lord has sent everyone
far away
an the land is utterly forsaken.
And though a tenth remains in the land
It will again be laid waste.
But as the terbinth and oak leave stumps
when they are cut down,
so the holy seed will be the stump in the land."

Isaiah the Prophet has been told by God to issue a warning to the People (children of Israel).
It is not so sweet but yet a strong reminder of how far we can get from God
and what the results of that can be.
The Children of Israel were persistent in their rebellion (so are we).
Rebellion or sin takes us far away from God.
We do not see things like God.
We do not hear From God and our hearts begin to get cold to the ways of God.
As we would call it here in Kentucky, "you are in a good ole back-slidden condition".

Look around you today.
The world is becoming desensitised to evil.
It is becoming harder and harder to recognize (see) evil for what it is.
We as Christians should be a light regardless of how dark the world becomes.
We are to live in it but not be of it.
So very difficult, when the world is sooooo loud.

So today I want to challenge each of you to get your check -up.
Check out your eyes...What are you watching and reading.
Check out your ears....What are you listening to and talking to others about.
Check out your heart.....have you grown cold?
Are you slowly allowing things in your life that are not of God?

The positive of this scripture is, "just as the terbinth and oak trees leave behind stumps".
There will always be a remnant of God's people ready to rise up.
It is at the point of nothingness that we realize......
How desperately we need God
God is not all you need until He is all you have!!!!

Blessings and remember to check out my Give Away!

  2. God Bless you Patty, well said. Seems like everyone I talk to tells me they are a Christian, no matter how they live their lives. They all think they are going to Heaven, but no sin will enter Heaven. God does not reward unforgiven sin. He calls us all to repentance.
    Have a Blessed day.

  3. Such a good reminder for today, Patty! Thank you for that. I couldn't help but think of that little song we used to sing as kids -- "Watch your eyes, watch your eyes what they see. . .There's a Savior up above looking down in tender love. . . watch your eyes, watch your eyes what they see." And so the song went with ears, mouth, hands and feet. I have been so aware these past few weeks of my own heart attitude and how things are filtered through, and how I react to things. . . all dependent on my relationship with the Lord. Your last statement was so powerful --- something I've come to understand a little better during the past few years. He is always enough!

  5. What a great reminder. The world is so evil that we need the full armor on at all times, don't we? and no better armor than God's shield and sword.
