A Girl's Gotta do, What a Girl's gotta do!

As many of you know my husband has been on the down and out list for the past week or so. This has forced me to take on things I normally would not do, but a girl's gotta do what a girls gotta do. This past Friday, my sister and I took on the challenge of putting up the crown molding in the front part of our new "old" home.  This meant measuring, mitering and using the chop saw.
Can I just SAY...........SUCCESS!

We used corner blocks so we would not have to miter all the corners.  I think the corner blocks added a little something, something to the molding.

Do you see that corner of the door facing?......
Yes, we mitered those....yippee!!!!!

I think it turned out fabulous!!!!!

More to come.......keep watching!

Blessings!

Sweet Scripture Sunday!!!

First, let me apologize for not posting Last Sunday the winner of my give Away
and my regular "Sweet Sunday Scripture".

My husband had a heart attack last Saturday week.
He had a heart cath procedure
on early Sunday morning that showed a blockage in an artery and had  to have a stint to correct the blockage.

So, needless to say......this has been a crazy week.

I am so thankful that all is well and he is feeling much better each and every day.
He has always been a healthy individual.
No high blood pressure.
No high cholesterol.
Exercises regularly.
 Not overweight,
but........
 has a family history of heart disease.
Today he is on preventive medicine and expected to recover fully!
The good news is..........
There is an answer for a family history of  heart disease.
It is as simple as listening to
 and believing what the doctor says.

As I read the Bible I find so many times that Jesus found himself
 before people who did not believe who he was or what he could do.
Therefore, they missed the blessing that was to come because they did not believe!

John 20:30-31

Jesus did many other miraculous signs in the presence of his disciples,
which are not recorded in this book.
But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ,
the son of God,
and that by believing you may have life in his name.

I do not know about you
but
 I Believe!

Blessings!

Patty

Sweet Scripture Sunday!!!

As the season is changing from Winter to Spring,
 the warmth of the Spring sunshine
 and the earth going from a dull gray to beautiful shades of green
always brings with it a sense of renewal and energy.
 We begin to makes plans for the upcoming days.
It becomes a season of "preparation".
We plan  our vacations and our vegetable and flower gardens.
We prep the soil and search through endless catalogs and magazines
 trying to find new ideas and plantings.
We begin strict exercise and diet regiments.
 All so we may be prepared for what is ahead.

  As believers in Christ Jesus, we too, go through many seasons.
Many times we realize we are not prepared for what lies ahead
or we are not reaping the full benefits of our faith
Why? because we do not prepare.

The apostle Peter has this to say in I Peter 1:13-16

"Therefore, prepare your minds for action,
be self-controlled,
set your hope fully on the grace to be given you
when Jesus Christ is revealed.
 As obedient children,
do not conform to the evil desires you had when you lived in ignorance,
But just as he who called you is holy,
so be holy in all you do;
 for it is written;
"Be holy, because I am holy."

As believers there is more to this life than just living and dying.
Life is about more than just trying to get through a day or a season.
 It is about reaping the benefits of all that is ours.
How?
Preparation!
To Prepare means to fit, adapt,
or qualify for a particular purpose or condition;
 to make ready;
as, to prepare ground for seed; to prepare a lesson.

To procure as suitable or necessary;
 to get ready;
 to provide;
as, to prepare ammunition and provisions for troops;
to prepare ships for defence; To make all things ready;
 to put things in order; as,
to prepare for a hostile invasion.

As believers we need to get ready.  We need to be self-controlled and alert!
Preparation is a must!

1. Read the Word and meditate upon it.
2.  Hide the Word in your heart. (memorize it)
3.  Learn to talk with the Father (Pray)
3.  Understand the Power of the Holy Spirit in your life.
An effective Christian is the one who understands their power source.
4. Fellowship of other believers!  (You are who you hang with).

Be Prepared or you  just might find that you have been invaded by a hostile enemy (Satan)!

To all the believers out there......Are you preparing daily?
To those who are not........
The best preparation you can make for your future is to know Jesus Christ as Savior!

Blessings!

SWEET SCRIPTURE SUNDAY!

ISAIAH 6:9-13

He said, "Go and tell this people:
"Be ever hearing, but never understanding;
Be ever seeing, but never perceiving."

Make the heart of this people calloused;
make their ears dull
and close their eyes.
Otherwise they might see with their ears,
hear with their ears,
understand with their hearts,
and turn and be healed."

"Then I said, "For how long, O Lord?"
And he answered:
Until the cities lie ruined
and without inhabitant,
until the houses are left deserted,
and the fields ruined and ravaged.
Until the Lord has sent everyone
far away
an the land is utterly forsaken.
And though a tenth remains in the land
It will again be laid waste.
But as the terbinth and oak leave stumps
when they are cut down,
so the holy seed will be the stump in the land."

Isaiah the Prophet has been told by God to issue a warning to the People (children of Israel).
 It is not so sweet but yet a strong reminder of how far we can get from God
and what the results of that can be.
 The Children of Israel were persistent in their rebellion (so are we).
Rebellion or sin takes us far away from God.
We do not see things like God.
We do not hear From God and our hearts begin to get cold to the ways of God.
 As we would call it here in Kentucky, "you are in a good ole back-slidden condition".

Look around you today.
The world is becoming desensitised to evil.
It is becoming harder and harder to recognize (see) evil for what it is.
We as Christians should be a light regardless of how dark the world becomes.
We are to live in it but not be of it.
So very difficult, when the world is sooooo loud.

So today I want to challenge each of you to get your check -up.
Check out your eyes...What are you watching and reading.
Check out your ears....What are you listening to and talking to others about.
Check out your heart.....have you grown cold?
Are you slowly allowing things in your life that are not of God?

The positive of this scripture is, "just as the terbinth and oak trees leave behind stumps".
There will always be a remnant of God's people ready to rise up.
It is at the point of nothingness that we realize......
How desperately we need God
God is not all you need until He is all you have!!!!

Blessings and remember to check out my Give Away!

Missing in Action........

I know many of you have thought I disappeared from the face of the earth, but I am only "missing in Action". What action you might say?   My husband and I have purchased an older home and it going to be a "BIG" job.  It is not much to look at, but it is ours................

The outside is going to need lots of work.......lots of work.  I can already see lots of flowers and I am definitely going to paint the old brick......Any suggestions?

We have been busy working on the inside.  We have torn down walls and had to replace flooring and work on the foundation.  I will share more of the before and after photos as we complete the work.

It sits on one acre of land and has lots of room for gardening, flowers and birds.  I am so excited about all the possibilities.  It has a great front porch and we are going to build a side porch which will be an extension of our kitchen.

After many years of ministry we have always been willing to go anywhere the Lord has asked us to.  We have given up many wonderful homes.  At this point in our lives we are getting older and do  not have lots of money to spend on extravagant homes.  After many years of living in church parsonages, we are pleased to be able to have something that is ours.  We are thrilled that the Lord is giving us ministry opportunities closer to our family.  I am asking all my friends in Blog Land to please pray for us as we have lots of work to do and we do not want to go deeply into debt for this home.  Also, I have an interview with the local Homeless Shelter with the possibility of the position of Director and my husband is going through the process of going back into the chaplaincy with the Federal Bureau of Prisons. I believe our God to be a faithful and a good God!

Psalm 37:3-5
Trust in the Lord, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed.
Delight thyself also in the Lord; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.
Commit they way unto the Lord; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.

Until the next time.........May your day be joyous and blessed!

Blessings!
