Why Blog?
I discovered blogging by way of a niece-in-law who helped us out with our web site for the mission. Let me just say upfront, I am not web savvy. I am learning as I go and still have so much to learn. I told her that I may be interested in writing about what happens around here on a daily basis. She told me to check out some free and easy to set up blog sights, so I did and all I can say is WOW!
I had heard of a blog but had never really given much thought to the idea. Blog is such a new concept and word that you cannot find it in the dictionary but after checking out other blogs I was sold. How awesome is it that you can go to cyber space and express yourself. Blogging for me is a time that I can express myself freely. I can share my thoughts, frustrations, views, recipes, pictures, ideas, and even my faith. For me it is as if you are in a place and time that you can say what you want, how you want to say it and when you want to say it. There is no set schedule or set of rigid rules (just keep it clean). It is just you and the keyboard. How good is that? It is as if you think no one is watching or reading and yet, it is open to the whole world.
Since I began blogging I have met some awesome people. The blogs that I read and follow have introduced me to some of the most productive, wise and thoughtful women I have ever met. I have seen them overcome depression, illness, death, stress and Satan's daily attacks. I have been ministered too through insightful Bible studies, challenging words and just seeing the love they express in their daily lives whether through a recipe, a funny story, a picture of something they love or just a simple Scripture. I know Satan uses the web many times for his realm but I truly believe that God is using it for His good also.
So, for someone who spends much of her time ministering to others it is refreshing to be ministered to by the women who share in the blogs I follow. You might say, this is my small group and I enjoy each of them. A big thank you to each of you who take time to express your feelings, hurts, homes, your faith and your great recipes. I really, really appreciate it!
So encourage each other and build each other up, just as you are already doing.

I, too, agree that blogging has enriched my life beyond my wildest expectations!
ReplyDeleteI also loved your last post about your beginnings at the Prison and the question that changed your life! I am so thankful for my salvation, but also look every day for what He will do for me TODAY! Especially on this journey through cancer! It is such a daily thing!
Thanks for enriching my life today!

I had always thought I was too "busy" to blog, but I find it gives me a moment (or 2) to slow down and think and remember what all happened during the day that was special. ANd it gave me a great chance to meet and connect with some wonderful people.

I agree. I'm not one to have a lot of friends. I stay busy with my family, church, and work. Blogging has been a great outlet, and wonderful way to meet some neat women, like yourself. I love what you do, and how you help so many people.
ReplyDeleteHave a great day.
I agree too! I am an Overseer at our ministry school & like you, I spend a lot of time giving out to others. It is my joy totally, but it is also great to have blogging as an outlet or should I say "inlet" to gather some good ideas & encouragements from others on the web. Bless you in all you do!
ReplyDeletePatty it is nice to meet you, thanks for stopping by and for these wonderful words. Welcome to this great world with so many women. when I discovered this ministry I was in awe as to how God is sneding His word to all corners of the earth and I could participate in my own way. How awesome to open a mission. I look forward to visiting and catching up on your ministry. Be blessed
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my blog and commenting. I'm putting you on my list of blogs to read. Your mission and it's setting, sound lovely. :o)
ReplyDeleteBlessings to you! Kris
I am so honored to be on the list of blogs that you read!! Isn't God great in that He sends us dear online friends to encourage us and lift us up?? I am blessed by you and what you are doing.
ReplyDeleteglad to find your bloggie, Patty. ;) I used to keep a fairly popular blog, even had my own domain! Seems that over the years with diabetes, I've lost more brain cells than were reborn & it's so hard to write anymore, but I still try. *sigh* http://sanitypreservationsociety.blogspot.com Maybe we can encourage each other. I think blogging is great therapy! :) Hugs!
