Do you ever have those days when you feel....
Well....
Not so good....
Maybe you're a little worse for the wear.....
You need a little boost..
You need someone to notice.....
To help you realize...
even though you may not be perfect...
You have value.....
This little school desk sits in my family room...
The kids use it as a writing/drawing table...
From far off..
as in the pic above
It looks just fine....
but close up....
lots of scratches and dents....
lots of wear and tare....
Even a little dust has settled on the wood....
Just perfect anyway!
The little desk knows she has a wonderful purpose in our home...
I needed to find the perfect thing to place above this little desk...
When I saw this old mirror at an estate sale
I knew.....
Perfect!!!!
But not as a mirror....
As a chalkboard......
Do you notice what I have written on it?
Yep....
Speak Life!
There comes a time we all need to hear something positive...
Good words...
That give us life!
Beneath "Speak Life" I have this written;
In every encounter
We either Give life
Or Take life....
What are you Doing?
Do we take time to pay attention to those around us?
Are we aware that the very words we say
have the power
to
take life
or
GIVE LIFE!
I have made this my theme for the year......
I want to "Speak Life" to anyone I meet........
On Facebook.....
In Blog Land.....
At the Grocery Store....
In our Ladies groups....
Bible Study....
Church.....
At Work...
At school....
At Play.....
Wherever....
Trying to pay attention..........
Looking beyond what you see.....
Paying attention to the distress in their eyes.....
The wear on their faces....
The statements they make......
The smile that covers a multitude of hurt.....
Being aware....
Learning to speak words of encouragement...
words of blessing...
Words of Life!
Death and life are in the power of the tongue,
and those who love it will eat its fruits.
Proverbs 18:21
Gracious words are like a honeycomb,
sweetness to the soul and health to the body.
Proverbs 16:24
I want to say thank you to all the wonderful ladies here in blog land...
You encourage me with your posts and beautiful pictures.....
I truly find Words of life here with you!
Keep it up!
Blessings to each of you!
I am sharing over at:
Your words are always words of hope, encouragement, comfort and LIFE! Thanks for being such a positive friend. It speaks to me! I needed to hear this because there is power in what we speak. Also love your analogy and the desk:)
ReplyDeleteHi Patty. I love the little writing/drawing desk and the chalkboard you have created with the old mirror is perfect. What a heartwarming message in your post today. It's a pleasure to have met you through blogging. Have a wonderful week. Mildred
ReplyDeletePatty, what a wonderful post and a beautiful word for the year. Your mirror turned chalkboard is beautiful and the saying is inspirational. Thank you for the reminder to notice those around us.

Oh, yes. It's all in our words! The Word of God tells us that we can't tame our tongue but that we can bridle it! I find I have to do that a lot! A delightful post--- and I love that desk. I have one just like it and use it as an end table. I found it at the Goodwill some years back; the Lord told me right where to head for that ten dollar deal! Mine has no chair. I use it, though, for my collection of vintage nature books. The shelf underneath holds an old dictionary. I refer to those books fairly often. One of my favorites was written by my cousin Don Kroodsma, an authority on birds. It's called The Singing Life of Birds and even has a CD of recordings with complete commentary. Very cool.
ReplyDeleteOh Patty what a beautiful post! Yes I think we all should be more affirmative to those around us. So many hurting people and many don't share their hurts but they do wear it on their faces as you say. Maybe because I'm a nurse people feel more free to share with me and I know that the words I speak to them have to the power to encourage and I pray for the wisdom to say words that only help and support. Love your little chair and desk...lots of great history and character in those little pieces! Enjoy the beginnings of spring!

What a wonderful post! I try so hard to do this all the time. Look behind the smile, into the soul. You always speak life to me. Thank you so much for doing that.
ReplyDeleteA beautiful little desk and chair. When I see something like that it means that it is really being used and not just sitting there for decoration. Love the chalk board. I agree with you. I try my best to say a good word to someone I meet each day, rather it be family, friends, neighbor, or stranger.
ReplyDeleteThank you Patty for your encouraging words. It's needed these days.
ReplyDeleteHi Patty, what a wonderful post and so uplifting. You are so right. What we say can leave lasting effects on another. What we do can encourage or discourage. How do we want to be remembered? As a giver or taker?? I love your school desk and the addition of the chalkboard is wonderful. What you wrote on it is perfect to read everyday. Thank you for sharing this post and your wise words. You are truly one of the givers my friend and God uses you to uplift others. He has shown favor upon you!!
