Yes, I have been forced to take a bold look at all the "things" I have accumulated or collected over the past several years. In doing so, I have come to the realization that I have a broad range of collections. The good ole Websters defines a collector as follows, "One who collects"..(ha!) So, I researched a little deeper to find the word "collect" to be defined as, "to bring together a group (assemble) or to accumulate for a hobby or study". I must admit openly to all............"My name is Patty and yes, I am a collector".
I shared with you in the last post my collection of quilts. I thought this week I would share my love for and collection of framed stitchery. I am always on the look for anything that someone has spent time, effort and a touch of love making. My newest is below. I found this one at a local Vendors Mall.
It is a beauty and look at the price it is even sweeter!
Can you believe this? I love it! Take a closer look at this handiwork.
Here is a grouping of old sampler's I found "around and about" at such wonderful prices. All of them were under $10.00 with the exception of one. I will explain below.
The large one on the right is the exception. My husband bought this one as a gift for me on our 29th wedding anniversary. I am sure he paid a little more for this one. He wrote the sweetest note on the back and signed it. He is a sweetie. Here is a closer look....
This is another one in the grouping. They are all beautiful!
And another one........
And another............
This is another grouping. All of these were gifts handmade by friends or a family member. They are very special to me.
Here is a closer look ...
The one above was made for me by my sweet Mother-in-law many years ago.
This one was made for me by a friend and given to me when my husband graduated from seminary in Ft Worth Texas..such sweet memories.
This one was made by two dear friends when we graduated from Bible College...
Here are a few more....I know...I know.....I told you I was a "Collector"
I found the two above on the 127 yard sale for $10.00 each. By the way, if you have not experienced the 127 yard sale also known as the "World's longest yard sale". Look it up:
http://www.127yardsale.com/. It is absolutely the best! Here is a closer look at these two beauties.
The one on the right has a scene of each of the four seasons. Each scene includes a quilt and you know how I love quilts.
The one on the left has different country-Amish farm scenes...
I like the statement the last one begins with.........
"Where there's room in the heart there's always room in the house". I pray my heart will always be open to share our Lord's love and the door to my home always open to welcome a visitor inside.
Blessings and to all my collector friends...........
ENJOY!
Patty
