As I watched the birds feeding in my yard this week I was reminded that our Lord takes care of his creation. We spend much of our life worrying about so many things. We tend to take matters into our own hands and do not allow the Lord to take care of us as we know he can. We get "worldly" vision instead of "kingdom" vision. Very dangerous in today's world. We look at everyone else around us and get the "why can't I have that or I want that" attitude. God only promised to give what we need when we need it.
Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life,
what you will eat or drink, or about your body, what you will wear.
Is not life more important than food and the body more important than clothes?
Look at the birds of the air;
they do not sow or reap or store away in barns,
and yet your heavenly Father feeds them.
Are you not much more valuable than they?
Who of you be worrying can add a single hour to his life?
And why do you worry about clothes?
See how the lilies of the field grow.
They do n ot labor or spin.
Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these.
If that is how God clothes the grass of the field,
which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire,
will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?
so do not worry saying, " what shall I eat? or What shall I wear?
For the pagans run after all these things,
and your heavenly Father knows that you need them.
But seek first his Kingdom and his righteousness,
and all these things will be given to you as well.
Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself.
Each day has enough trouble of its own.
Matthew 6: 25-34
Lord, help me to focus on what I need instead of what I want! You have always been faithful to provide all my needs and many times my wants!
Blessings!

You stole my thunder, Patty! These have been my thoughts lately, especially when listening to the "doom and gloom" on the news and hearing about food shortages, a failing economy, and all the rest. Yet, He who brought me safe thus far will also lead me Home. Years ago, I heard a missionary speak on the verse, "And my God shall supply all your need, according to His riches. . ." Her pesonal paraphrase was, "All that I have is all that I need." I've never forgotten that. And I'm sure your little birds cheerfully sang that back as they found all they needed for that day. It was so good to read this passage today. Worrier that I am at times, I find this a gentle chastisement and encouragement to trust more.
ReplyDeleteAmen, again and again. And what a beautiful Sabbath day it is.

Very touching post Patty, so true.
ReplyDeleteLove your pics.
Enjoyed your post today. Our pastor talked to us today about looking at things with the eternal in mind! So much like you saying we get wordly vision rather than kingdom vision! Really makes you stop and thinking about your own life. Love your pretty pictures!

I think this was meant just for me. Thank you so much. I have found as hard as it is if I stay out of it and let God have his way, it sure seems to come out much better. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Val. I keep bringing solutions to the Lord as if HE is going to say OK Bren we will do that.
