Sweet Sunday Scripture.....

 "When Pigs Fly!"

Throughout my home and yard
I have several of these cute little "winged" pigs....

Why?
They are just to cute......
(happy face)

Seriously.....
They are a constant reminder to me of just the opposite
of what the phrase "When pigs fly" means.....

The phrase, "when pigs fly"
is thought to come from an old Scottish proverb in the sixteenth century.
It is a way of saying that something will never happen.

My little "winged pigs" help remind me

that the impossible can happen!.....

 The Bible tells us......

There are two different instances in the book of Mark where
Jesus reminds us of this very thing.....

Mark 9:23 ESV

And Jesus said to him,
“‘If you can’!
All things are possible for one who believes.”

In Mark 9:14-29..
Jesus is asked by a desperate father whose son is possessed by a Demon,
vs 22;"if you he can do anything to help, take pity upon us and help us"

Mark 10:27 ESV

Jesus looked at them and said,
“With man it is impossible,
but not with God. For all things are possible with God.”

This is the story of the Rich Young Man who wants to follow Jesus
but chooses his riches over following Jesus...
The disciples question Jesus about salvation.....
"who then can be saved?"  vs 26

Jesus answers in verse 27:

Jesus looked at them and said,
“With man it is impossible,
but not with God.
For all things are possible with God.”

Both of these verses refer to "faith"

our faith......

Jesus words do not mean we can automatically get anything we want
if we just think positive....
Jesus meant anything is possible if we believe!
We cannot have everything we pray for as if prayer is magic....
but with faith,
We can have everything we need to serve Him!

The attitude of trust and confidence that the Bible calls
belief and faith
Is not something we can obtain without help.
Faith is a gift from God ( Ephesians 2:8-9)
No matter how much faith we have,
we never reach the point of being self-sufficient.
Faith is not stored away like money in the bank...

Growing faith is a constant process of daily renewing
our trust in Jesus!

Sitting just a few flowers over from my "winged" pig
sits an ordinary little fat pink pig..
a true reminder that pigs do not fly!
But.....
God can do whatever He wants in the life
of someone who truly believes!

"Now faith is being sure of what we hope for
and certain of what we do not see,"
Hebrews 11:1 NIV

Excited to see what God is up to in my life!
Trusting Him to work things out!!

Sunday Blessings!

  1. I have a few things that look impossible right now. Thanks for reminding me that "Pigs CAN fly." What an inspirational blog you have with all the things I love too. Thanks for the encouragement. I needed that today. Can I ask you to pray for my daughter who has tried for 5 years to have a baby and has been unable to due to her husband's testicular cancer which has caused his low sperm counting...believing God for the impossible.

  2. What a beautiful post Patty. So true and the more hardships the stronger our faith has to be. It is faith and belief in Him that gets us through.Loved this. You need to put your post in book form.

  5. Love all your little piggies Patty! And the photo of the bike; I had one so much like that when I was about 11 or 12. It was a yellow banana bike with a plastic basket with daisies on it!
With God all things are possible is one of my favorite verses and I know it was purposed for me to read it today.
Love my visits with you always!
