Life can sometimes be a mess.....
Yes, in the midst of packing, unpacking and remodeling....
My husband and I get the stomach virus.....
(ie, lack of last Sunday post)
Not just us...but our daughter who was visiting during the past holiday weekend....
Our youngest daughter and her youngest too.....
It hit out of nowhere and put us in the bed.....
BLAH!
As we began to recover we went back to the packing, unpacking and remodeling....
AND.....
It is in the mess....
that God spoke....
I am still here.....
even in the midst of all this mess...
I have never left.....
I am still here.....
So I began to look at things a little closer..........
Through the eye of my camera lense.....
I saw beauty......
I was reminded by the Holy Spirit to look beyond my circumstances......
Look beyond the stacks and stacks of dishes, baskets, linens,,,,
See the beauty......
So I did........
and all the textures and colors came to life,,
It is in the midst of a mess.....
that we need more than ever to rely upon the Holy Spirit
to lead us day by day....
mess by mess.....
The fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22)
will cause our lives to shine with God
in the midst of every situation in our life....
good and bad....
Even if life is a mess......
A. W. Tozer wrote,
“The difference between a great Christian life and any other kind
lies in the quality of our religious concepts . . . "
You see,
What we believe about God
and His Word is how we will live our life,,,,
in the midst of a mess......
I choose to see beauty!
I choose life!
I choose to believe that God is with me....
Regardless of where life takes me....
Paul says it best:
Philippians 4:11-13
"I am not saying this because I am in need,
for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances,
I know what it is to be in need,
and I know what it is to have plenty.
I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation,
whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want.
I can do everything through Him who gives me strength"
I am not completely there yet....
but today...
I choose to see beauty in the midst of a mess...

This is a beautiful post, Patty! So sorry you had to deal with the "yuks" in the midst of the unpacking chaos, but you have a wonderful attitude and sounds like you are on-the-mend! We sold and moved just two years ago, so those memories are still very fresh in my brain. My hubby feels the same way. We jokingly say (not totally joking) that we won't be moving from here until our children have to put us in a home or unless we win the lottery! So I sincerely wish you good luck in getting unpacked and settled in! Thanks for following, and I am now following back!

As usual, you hit me! I too need to look beyond the "mess" of whatever situation. It is too easy to whine than to look for Gods beauty and His timing. I promise to do better. glad you all better.

ReplyDeleteBeautiful post. The Lord spoke this verse to me a few weeks ago. I have been so discontent in my present situation. If you have followed me at all you know this. Having lost my parents within 6 months of each other, the journey of 5 years took its toil on me. A preacher's kid, the church was my 2nd home. I lived there, was free to come and go as I pleased, worked in every capacity of the church. They retired in 1997, but Daddy continued to fill the role as pastor of evangelism. He visited the shut ins even when he was sick and dying. He was at the nursing home one last time on Monday before his death on Saturday. When he died, so did my place in the church. I am struggling to find my place and where God wants me. A new Christian Life Center was his dream and has been built in their memory and I feel like a stranger among my people. Please pray for me that I will see the beauty among the ashes. I pray that God will restore to me the joy of my salvation. I have been reading A.W.Tozer too. Although written many, many years ago, his words are relevant for today. Thanks for sharing. I have been encouraged.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the reminder...it's so easy to get frustrated and cranky when looking at the huge work ahead of us, but even in the middle of it, there's a bright spot if we can dig deep enough.
